Phylogenetic Community Structure Methods

Picture

Reviewing the methods

In a paper currently available as a pre-print, Christopher Trisos, Damien Farine, and I explore the statistical behavior and performance of a wide array (278 unique approaches!) of phylogenetic community structure methods to testing for the effects  of habitat filtering and competitive exclusion on community assembly.

Null models incorporating species dispersal probabilities

I am currently developing and testing a method of incorporating species' probabilities of dispersal into a phylogenetic community structure null models. The new model maintains species richness, and approximately maintains species occurrence frequencies and abundance distributions. It also shows low error rates and strong power to detect the effects of habitat filtering and competitive exclusion.
